IMPORTANT CHEER STUFF

  • Hey Everybody- "Van-Time" Friday for the West Harrison game at 5:15pm
  • I still need $18.50 for tee-shirts from everyone but one of you
  • CAN HELP WITH PUPPY CLINIC ON SEP 30 & OCT 2?
    • So far I only have Catherine & Chelsea, even Lara & Cheyann aren't 100%
    • I know Jennifer & Maddie are out due to XC
    • We need to send out info Monday to Dow City, but I'm not gonna do this with only 2 cheerleaders. My preference is 6, so we can break it into 3 groups with 2 teachers per group.
    • Tell your employers that you can't work until after 5 that day and get back to me ASAP. Thanks! (I know, I keep nagging, right?)
  • BONFIRE MINI-PEP RALLY SEP 30- How many of you will be available to cheer at 8:00PM at the Tractor-Pull Track/4 County Fairgrounds TUES night, Sept.30? Please let me know ASAP if you know you can or can't. Thanks!
    • We need a minimum of four of you plus Cujo.
    • Student Council is reviving this old tradition from almost 20 years ago.
    • I won't be able to attend because my Mom is visiting from Phoenix that week, so if anything goes awry, talk to Sheila Beam, Coach Pete or Mr. Gee.
  • Be sure to follow Cujo on twitter @CujoBDawg and #ff him too so all your friends know to follow him. Eventually we may have you take turns "guest" tweeting for him. I'm also talking to Mrs. Foster about setting up something so K-5 kids can write him letters during Homecoming and have you guys play "Santa's Elves" and answer their letters. Whattd'ya thing of that?

Marching Fite Song Dance (for parades)

Thursday Practice

Okay, so remember last Thursday when I thought I had a meeting during practice but I didn't? That was because that meeting is THIS Thursday (today). But please come anyway, just because you can't work on stunts, you can work on 2 things- finishing the run-thru for NEXT week's game...

AND making plans for your Homecoming "Pup-Rally" for the Elementary kids in Dow City. Friday morning Sept 20. Figure out transportation for everybody from Dunlap (I can't drive you because I teach 8th graders 1&2nd hours), and for everyone FROM DC back to Dunlap for school once you're done. When you get there, check in with Mr. Weber in the office while classroom teachers are taking their attendance. Then they'll all go to the gym. 10-20min tops just like a regular pep rally. So probably 8:45-9:00 or a little later. Use today's practice to discuss what cheers/stunts to do and in what order. Do you want to have Mr. Weber or Mr. Hall or some Coach/Teacher give a short speech? Do you want to teach the Fight Song? Do you take a long Cujo? Kids LOVE Cujo & Chelsea will be eligible again.

Van Time for Coon Rapids is 4:15, but maybe we should leave at 4:00 if we're stopping in Denison to eat.

PS- Liberty, your Shell came. It's on my round table.

JERSEY AUCTION/HOMECOMING

Remember that the jersey Auction is this Sunday, September 15

  • The Soup Supper starts at 4:30pm if you /your family wants to eat.
  • The Jersey Auction starts at 6:00pm, so please try to be there by/before 5:50 or so.

REMEMBER- You are responsible for getting your shell back by Thursday night so that you can have it to wear on Friday, so be sure to pay attention to who buys it, thank them, and get their number.

I asked Ernie to have you go before the football team. Not sure if he or Coach Pete or just the auctioneers will announce you, because (sorry about this) our daughter Ellen is playing piano at the Clay County Fair, so I won't be at the auction, I'll be in Spencer this year.

Practice Next Week

You ladies did so well last night, you deserve to have Monday off.

Please plan on practicing Tues & Thurs.

Van time for Elk Horn/Kimbleton will be 4:30 again.

Just making sure- Jade, you're going to Colorado, right? So we'll need Catherine to sub.

Got something for you all to think about/plan on. Mrs. Beam (new StuCo advisor) would like us (those not in band) to lead off the parade with fight-song dance, cheers & stunts. Lots of cheer squads were in holiday parades in California. It would take planning & practice, but wouldn't that beat just reviewing chants anyway? Think about it.

See ya next week!

Jersey Auction THIS SUNDAY Sept.16

CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THIS!!!
JERSEY AUCTION-
THIS SUNDAY, SEPT. 16
4:30 pm Homecoming Week Soup Supper
6:00 pm Jersey Auction & Coronation

>>First thing I need you all to know about it, is that I won't be there this year. Sorry. We have family coming from California, Kansas, and South Dakota this weekend for my in-law's 50th anniversary. I feel REALLY bad about it, especially since we have so many freshmen this year. But just follow the lead of Shannon Zehner, Jennifer Zehner, Tammy Zehner, Quincy, and Paula Ritterbush Eickholt- they'll get you through it.

>>BASIC JIST- You get on stage and the Schabens auction off your shell to raise money for the Athletic Boosters. We need this because the're gonna help us get new uniforms for next year. Your parents and/or grandparents may bid, but so will local businesses.

>>I won't make it "mandatory," in other words, I won't MAKE you attend, but it will really look bad if only 2 or 3 out of the 10 of you go. SO PLEASE TRY TO MAKE IT IF YOU CAN. However, I understand you don't all have rides, this was short notice since it slipped my mind, your parents may have other previous commitments for you, and after all, I won't be there (although XC and VB coaches often aren't there either).

>>Please try to be there by 5:45 or so. Unless you want to come eat, then by all means, come anytime after 4:15. Please bring your family and guests, this is a great way to support ALL the sports programs at BV (its not just about football, in spite of whatever you've heard). Sit together if you can and introduce each other's families and get to know each other.

>>Not enough old "jerseys"- usually we have them auction off old shells (tops) but since there's 9 (plus a mascot)  of you this year and the 2 alternates are stuck wearing older shells anyway, let's just bring your current uniform top- but IMPORTANT- YOU MUST KNOW WHO PAID FOR YOURS AND RETRIEVE IT FROM THEM BY NEXT THURS 9/20 so that you can wear it next Friday! Got that?

Chelsea Willis, you bring the older mascot head (whichever one you don't use), you'll still need to get it back from your donor, but its not as urgent that you get it by Thursday.
