Okay, so remember last Thursday when I thought I had a meeting during practice but I didn't? That was because that meeting is THIS Thursday (today). But please come anyway, just because you can't work on stunts, you can work on 2 things- finishing the run-thru for NEXT week's game...
AND making plans for your Homecoming "Pup-Rally" for the Elementary kids in Dow City. Friday morning Sept 20. Figure out transportation for everybody from Dunlap (I can't drive you because I teach 8th graders 1&2nd hours), and for everyone FROM DC back to Dunlap for school once you're done. When you get there, check in with Mr. Weber in the office while classroom teachers are taking their attendance. Then they'll all go to the gym. 10-20min tops just like a regular pep rally. So probably 8:45-9:00 or a little later. Use today's practice to discuss what cheers/stunts to do and in what order. Do you want to have Mr. Weber or Mr. Hall or some Coach/Teacher give a short speech? Do you want to teach the Fight Song? Do you take a long Cujo? Kids LOVE Cujo & Chelsea will be eligible again.
Van Time for Coon Rapids is 4:15, but maybe we should leave at 4:00 if we're stopping in Denison to eat.
PS- Liberty, your Shell came. It's on my round table.

Pictures from the 10/17 Bedford game
I was informed that I can't just post pictures on Facebook, but they have to keep being put up here too. So here you go. It was COLD. We won (so we have a substate game on Wed. 10/29- first time in years) Kensie was sick, decided to quit before the end of the season, and Christian was on some family trip to St. Louis or something- consequently Sasha and Christine cheered alone (in the cold).
"Hustle Hustle" just usually works so much better with a whole big long line of people doing it together. Oh well, GREAT JOB S&C! Bedford, by the way, brought like 12 cheerleaders (could've swore the rule was only 8 for football), so we looked like the small squad that we are. Be that as it may, we had FUN and helped the crowd to have fun too, which is our job and guess what, thanks to us our team won! Way to go Squishy and Chief!
See, they're the Bedford Bulldogs, we're the Boyer Valley Bulldogs, it was a "dogfight," So Christine (our official Run-Thru goddess this season, Thanks, Chief) thought up the "this is OUR house" idea, pretty clever, eh?
Brrrrr

Homecoming isn't until the 14th, but I thought we should get a jump on the run through. I couldn't find a cougar that looked like it was running away, so I used Hannah Barbara's "Snaggle-Puss." Kids today probably won't have any clue who he was. Cest la Vie!

This week's run-thru

Collaboration is the key- This time, Rena told me what she wanted and I threw it together in PhotoShop. I'm still having Katie & Chelsey on Yearbook trace and paint it though. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll come out for cheer during basketball season!

How do you like our first run-thru? Rena was disapointed that I just went ahead and designed it and had my Yearbook staff paint it, instead of letting the squad do it. But hey, they hardly know any chants and we had to plan and practice our first pep-rally which is today.
I like how I made Elmer Fudd the Viking. Shows my age though- kids today barely know Looney Toons.
Yikes was practice rough yesterday. I swear that NOBODY is getting along. I don't know if I should be more afraid of everybody quiting or everybody breaking into a brawl at the rally or the game. I guess whatever happens, happens, we'll just have to wait and see.
