These two quiet, shy cheerleaders are the the most loyal and dedicated. For all they lack, I think they'll be assets if they both want to return for football season next year too.

Last night's game was fantastic. It was a real barn-burner. We dominated the first quarter and held on to a 10 point lead through most of the second. Our the stands were overflowing, even though the game as almost 2 hours away.

Our student section stood the entire game and were a dream of a crowd for our two meek cheerleaders- who did a fantastic job most of the time and didn't let it ruffle their feathers at all when students initiated cheers on their own because the girls weren't. I was proud of them and they had a lot of fun.

In the end, we lost 49-46. A storybook half court shot looked like it would make it in with only a second or two on the clock, but sometimes those miracles don't happen in real life the way they do in movies. Everyone was heartbroken. I was really rooting for a couple of our Senior guys who are great Art students. I knew that it had to be devastating for them.

Seems we also have a Girls WVC Tournament game on Tuesday in Onawa- I'm sorry I forgot to include that one.

MON 2/7- Girls Home Game
TUE 2/8- Girls WVC @ West Monona
THURS 2/10- Girls WVC @ Woodbine
FRI 2/11- Boys Home Game

First District Playoff Game that I know about-

Ernie did add a couple of make-up games, but they're non-conference, non tournament, single-gender away games, so we don't have to cheer at them.

Since they had lost last week to IKM/Manning, I don't THINK that our boys will play in Saturday because that's the WVC Championship game. Maybe it depends on how they play tomorrow night in Kingsley, I will try to let everyone know as soon as I can. 

I would say that Mon 2/7 will be the girl's Senior/Parent night and Fri 2/11 will be the boy's, because those are the two last "regular-season" games. 

Please keep in mind, that after that will be the real District Playoff Tournaments (these recent ones were just Western Valley Conference). I don't have brackets or schedules for Districts yet and will let everyone know as soon as the A.D. gets them to me.

At Districts, once you lose, you're out- but our boys have been really good this year. Wouldn't it be great to go all the way to State?! 


PS- At Districts, the rules about jewelry, hair and nails are more strictly enforced, so please remember to take off all the "bling." Thanks

Upcoming Basketball Schedule

  • SAT 1/29 Girls @ West Harrison BUS TIME: 5:15pm
  • MON 1/31 Boys EITHER home or @ Logan (depends on results of Thurs 1/27 gm) BUS TIME? TBA
  • TUES 2/1 Girls @ Whiting, vs. Woodbine BUS TIME 6:00pm
  • THURS 2/3 Girls @ Mapleton BUS TIME 4:40pm

Western Valley Conference Tournament Basketball

  • Tonight's game at COU is not part of the WVC tourney, it's a non-conference game. Since it's boy's only away, we're not obligated to cheer. If at least 3 of you would still like to, that's fine. The bus leaves at 4:45, but I'll just drive myself since I live there.

  • We host the boys first round of conference tournament  Tuesday night.  Boyer Valley vs Ar-We-va at 7:30, so please be here by 7pm. If you want to watch the Manning/Logan game before, that one starts at the usual 6:00.

  • If we win we will host on Thursday 1/27 too. If we lose, I'm not sure where we'll play Thursday and I'll let you know as soon as they tell me (During District playoff tournaments, when we lose, we're done).

  • Saturday's game is TBA. 

  • The Monday Jan.31 WVC is also TBA.

This week in Cheer

  • The Mon. Jan. 10 basketball game v. AHST has NOT been rescheduled yet
  • The Tues. Jan. 11 basketball game v. COU has been rescheduled to Thursday, Jan. 13
  • We will have a pep-rally this Fri. 1/14, even though it's an away game- it is against our arch rivals Woodbine, there's also a wresting tournament this weekend
