Saturday Night
Stacie, (please pass this on to Larry & the players if you want to too)
I want to apologize for there not being a cheer squad at the girl's game Saturday. I am embarrassed and ashamed.
This will sound completely like a big litany of excuses, but I feel the need to list them all anyway:
2 girls had told me ahead of time that they couldn't get out of work. 1 asked is she could have off because of a family friend visiting, as she was one of the few who hasn't been flaky, I let her. Another was injured and her MD told her no cheer until the 20th.
The "service engine soon" light was on and never went out in the van they assigned us.
Only 2 cheerleaders showed up. Now that shouldn't have stopped us, heck ArWeVa has only had 2 girls all season, but these are two of the most shy/self-conscious girls and I'm a push-over.
Finally, Friday night we got word that mt wife's grandfather was hospitalized in Onawa with kidney failure and blood loss. My in-laws canceled a trip to Kansas to see their son & his kids because the MD gave Grandpa only a 50/50 chance. Mark (my brother-in-law) and our nephews came up instead.
The 2 cheerleaders that cam asked if they could just sit in the stands and lead spirit that way, I asked them if they'd mind if I went home to be with my wife & her family and they were okay with that.
I suppose I set a bad example for my cheerleaders since obviously I already don't demand enough from them. I apologize for that too. Needless to say, only half were going to letter and after tonight I may even need to reassess that too.
Please accept my apologies. I'll be anxiously watching the news and/or tuning in KDSN to see how we fared.
-Ted

Prophet, Priest, and Pirate
http://malloryprayer.blogspot.com/
As many of you may know, before I came to Boyer Valley, I taught at Los Angeles Lutheran Jr/Sr High School. Since moving to Iowa, I've been the Youth Group leader at our Church in Charter Oak. Well, with three little girls who are at least another 6-10 years away from high school, I am insanely busy with things like dance class and speech therapy, so I'll be stepping down from being Youth Leader this May.
There was even a time when I thought about becoming a pastor. Mind you, I don't believe in forcing my beliefs on anyone and I believe in the separation of church and state in public schools (keep in mind that this website is not an official BVCS site). But if you ever need someone to listen to you or to pray for you, let me know. If you ever want or need to talk about your faith or beliefs, let me know. It won't be in class, but before/after school, at lunch or by email, I'll be happy to help in any way I can. It doesn't matter to me if your Methodist, Catholic, non-denominational, Baptist, Lutheran, whatever, or have no Church background.
Meanwhile, I have another website- "Prophet, Priest and Pirate," where I hope to talk about teen faith issues, prayer and where I want to be able to “be real,” and talk about my own personal struggles and celebrations.
Feel like our faith has been hijacked? Let's chart a new course.
We could even launch a few guerrilla raids on the white-washed tombs!
Visit "Prophet, Priest and Pirate" for prayers, devotions, theology, and an occasional rant.

Avahst!
I'm hoisting a new flag ye land lubbers! I shouldn't take more that the Good Book for ye to figure out what she stands for, but the repercussions for my presence on the web may take a while to sink in. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, the dred Pirate Roberts laid 470 vessels to rest. No worries, I won't sink this ship, but watch for a new mast on the horizon.

Senior & Parent's Night 2007
Senior & Parent's Night 2007
Cassie Androy is the daughter of Patti & Tom Androy. This was Cassie’s second year on Cheer and her leadership and contributions will be greatly missed. Cassie has been very active in Student Government and Drill Squad.
Haley Mitchell is the daughter of Christine Craig & Sharon Mitchell. This was Haley’s first year on Cheer but she was a natural thanks to her experience on Drill Squad.
Mary Angelene Kirk is the daughter of Bill & Linda Kirk. This was also Angie’s second year on Cheer. Her amazing enthusiasm, energy and school spirit- not to mention her powerful voice will certainly leave a big hole when she’s gone. Angie has been active in Speech, JEL, and Yearbook.
Kimberly Wood is the daughter of Jo Joe Wood & Mariellen Sharp. Kim also is finishing her first year on Cheer and with her huge smile and all of her Drill Squad experience, she probably should’ve started sooner.
Mascot Brett Malone is the son of Bryan & Lori Malone. This is an especially meaningful night because Brett has been appearing as “Cujo” the Boyer Valley Bulldog for all four of his years in high school. That’s 28 in Dog years. He is only the fourth mascot in seven years and, as only his three predecessors can tell you, it is a hot, strenuous and occasionally life-threatening job. Not only has he had to learn how to deal with little kids, but he has learned to deal with teenage girls like no other boy in school! BV appreciates your years of service and will surely miss you. Thanks Brett.
With any luck, maybe we’ll be seeing both Brett and Angie on the Spirit Squad at the University of Northern Iowa sometime soon!

On the bus
Experimenting with the "night time" setting on the camera...Senior buddies
The wierd blue glow of the cell phone and the erie yellow light inside a bus in January.
Lonely till the basketball players come. Kayla seems crabby.
More from West Harrison
Yeah, this game was too easy. Anytime you win by more than 20 points, it can get a little boring. Shout-Out to the West Harrison Cheerleaders though, they sang a beautiful version of the National Anthem and their chants are loud, in sync, in a good Alto pitch, and with just enough expression. Keep it up!
Just another fan coming to the game.
At West Harrison
These are the core- they are 4 or the original 5 who were on basketball cheer last year. Keep on Truckin'.
